About

The Rebirth Project started in the Fall of 2016 as a place where black students at UMass Amherst, a predominantly white institution, could express themselves about both local and worldly concerns.

As semesters went by, our publication merged with the former art zine Pigment, which gave us the artistic push and drive we needed to produce more creative content that was still concentrated on the concerns of black students on campus and of other marginalized groups.

As The Rebirth Project has grown, we have received amazing support from black student organizations on campus, as well as the UMass Amherst Journalism Department.

We hope that we can continue providing readers with content and stories that need to be heard.
